What’s New in the Updated 2022 Mazda CX-9?
2022 Mazda CX-9 Trims and Pricing
With 2021 in the rearview, Mazda USA has announced the 2022 model year refresh to the Mazda CX-9. The 2022 Mazda CX-9 three-row SUV continues to be the biggest model in Mazda’s 2022 model lineup and brings several noteworthy upgrades over its predecessor. Keep reading this blog from Frank Boucher Mazda of Racine to learn what is new in the refreshed 2022 Mazda CX-9 and how much it will cost you.
New Trims and Packages
The 2022 Mazda CX-9 lineup consists of six trims compared to five on last year’s model. It now has Sport, Touring, Touring Plus, Carbon Edition, Grand Touring, and Signature – with Touring Plus being the new addition.
In addition to the trims, you also get an optional Touring Premium Package which lets you configure the second-row seating with two-seater captain’s chairs or a three-seater bench. The package also adds a power moonroof, LED fog lights, second-row retractable window sunshade, 2x third-row USB ports, wireless charger, front and rear parking sensors, and a Bose 12-speaker premium audio with SiriusXM satellite radio with a three-month trial subscription.
Standard AWD
The other significant upgrade all 2022 CX-9 models receive is the standard i-ACTIV® all-wheel drive for improved traction over rough terrain. Powering all the 2022 CX-9 trims is Mazda’s tried and tested turbocharged 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G 2.5 four-cylinder engine that makes 240 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque and up to 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque using premium 93 octane gasoline. The engine’s paired with a Skyactiv Drive 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift and sport mode.
More safety and connectivity
Besides this, the 2022 Mazda CX-9 brings standard active safety features that make it the safest CX-9 model. These include:
- Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go
- Smart Brake Support with collision warning
- Advanced Smart City Brake Support with pedestrian detection
- Blind Spot Monitoring
- Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and
- Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist.
Every 2022 Mazda CX-9 model now comes with standard complimentary Mazda Connected Services for three years and an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot for three months or a 2GB trial – whichever comes first.

Mazda USA also revealed the revised pricing for the 2022 Mazda CX-9. Despite coming with standard i-ACTIV AWD, the 2022 Mazda CX-9 costs less than the 2021 Mazda CX-9 when it reaches you.
