The older turbo engine, discontinued for the 2026 model year, uses a different oil than the current powerplant. Turbochargers operate at much higher temperatures and pressures. They require a slightly thicker oil to maintain a protective barrier over engine parts under intense heat. Always consult your Mazda owner’s manual or talk with a service advisor to verify the exact engine type for your model year.
The Mazda factory manual states that your vehicle can travel up to 7,500 or 10,000 miles between oil changes under ideal conditions.
